Resident associations' help sought to curb crime

  • Inform police if on vacation
  • Lock front and back doors of the house properly

Kozhikode: The city police have advised the general public to take precautionary measures while going on vacation during Onam holidays. They were asked to inform the police station within their limits to ensure that burglars did not break into their houses when they were away, Kozhikode City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay said here on Wednesday.

One of the instructions the people were asked to follow was to make sure that front and back doors of the house were intact and locked properly. The neighbours also should be informed before they embarked on their journey, he said.

Steps should be taken to ensure that the milk vendor and newspaper agents were not leaving milk packets and newspapers in front of the houses unattended. They should also inform the residents' association about their vacation. Cash and ornaments should not be kept in the house. The police (control room phone 100 and crime stopper phone 1090) could be contacted for any help. The phone numbers of police stations in the city are: Town 2366232, Chemmanad 2304178, Kasaba 2722286, Panniyankara 2320860, Nallalam 2402843, Feroke 2402230, Beypore 2414002, Marad 2418200, Medical College 2357691, Mavoor 2483124, Nadakkavu 2766433, Elathoor 2462045, Chevayur 2371403 and Kunnamangalam 2200256.
