Police foil AIYF taluk office march

The police dispersed All India Youth Federation (AIYF) workers who marched to the taluk office here on Tuesday demanding resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the wake of the solar panel scandal.

A group of protestors led by AIYF leaders P. Ajayakumar and M.S. Nishad were stopped by the police near the Taluk Office.

The police and protestors scuffled when the latter tried to pull down the barricades. The police then caned the protesters. The police arrested 15 AIYF activists.

In another development, All India Democratic Women’s Association workers took a march to the Collectorate demanding Mr. Chandy’s resignation.

AIDWA State secretary K.K. Shylaja inaugurated the march.

Former MP P. Satheedevi addressed the protesters.
