: Minister for Home Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said here on Thursday that the telecommunication system of the police would be modernised to curb the increasing rate of cyber crimes.
He was speaking after taking salute at the passing-out parade of the recruit telecommunication police constables at the Kerala Police Academy at Ramavaramapuam.
He said more than 10,000 cyber crimes were reported in the State every year. Among the 3.5 crore people, almost 3 crore people used mobile phones.
In all, 105 recruit telecommunication police constables completed their training course at the Kerala police academy. V.S. Ajith and E. Srijith were selected Best Indoor and Best Outdoor performers respectively. Ajay Ramachandran is the best shooter among the trainees.
The Minister also inaugurated various units at the Viyyur Central prison. Talking to mediapersons, the Minister said the problems in the UDF would be solved amicably. There were efficient leaders in the front to take proper decisions, he said.
Earlier, while addressing a development seminar in connection with the ‘Niravu Haritha Samruddhi’ agriculture festival at the Puthenchira Thekkummuri School, near here, the Minister said a people’s movement was needed in the agriculture sector to achieve food security. “To overcome the limitations as a consumer State, we should strengthen the farm sector. Large-scale mechanisation and modernisation methods were needed. There should be efforts to make farming profitable,” the Minister said.
