The body of multi-faceted artist MV Devan, who died at his residence in Aluva on Tuesday, was cremated at the Ambattu Kavu public crematorium at 5.40 p.m. on Wednesday. The last rites were performed by Devan Master’s nephews Sivadas and Dr Sugathan and grandsons Ashwin and Sidharth.
Earlier in the day, people from all walks of life made a beeline for his residence, ‘Choorni’, and the Town Hall in Aluva in the afternoon to pay tributes to the departed master artist. Besides senior artists like K.K. Rajappan and writers like M.K. Sanoo and M. Thomas Mathew, in attendance were K.C. Joseph, Minister for Culture; K. Babu, Minister for Ports and Excise; Anwar Sadath, Aluva MLA; K.S. Radhakrishnan, Chairman of the Kerala PSC; and A.P. Kunhikannan, managing trustee of the Malayala Kalagramam founded by Devan, to pay their last respects to Devan.
