THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Adivasi Samrakshana Sanghom and the Plachimada Solidarity Council have sought early submission of the high-power committee report on the compensation to be paid to the local population for the damage sustained when the Coca-Cola plant was in operation at Plachimada.

Expresses regret

In a joint statement here on Wednesday, Sanghom convener Veloor Swaminathan, joint convener Neelippara Mariyappan and Solidarity Council convener R. Ajayan said it was regrettable that the committee could not so far submit its report, which was expected by December 31 last.

Evidence

The committee had taken evidence from the local people and there was no justification for delaying submission of the report to the government, they said.

They demanded early submission of the report and formation of a Tamil Nadu-model authority to secure compensation for the people for the losses they had sustained on account of the operation of the plant.
