The Kerala High Court on Tuesday dismissed a bail plea by V. Mahroof, third accused in the planting of pipe bombs in a vacant land of the Kannur City Juma Masjid in November 2007.

Thadiyantavide Nazeer is the first accused in the case.

Dismissing the plea of the accused, the court observed that plea of the petitioner that he had no knowledge of the crime cannot be accepted on its face value.

Materials covered by the case diary disclosed that he had close contact and association with the two other accused in the case against whom proceedings were continuing in other cases allegedly for anti national activities committed by them, the court said.

It was open to the petitioner to apply for a bail before the Sessions Court in case of any delay in committal proceedings or after committal, delay in completion of the trial, both of them within six months of the order of the High Court, the judge said.
