PALAKKAD: The Pepsi Cola bottling plant at Kanjikode, which was sealed by the Revenue Department on Thursday for non-payment of dues, resumed functioning on Friday after paying the dues.

According to the authorities, the company paid an amount of Rs.1 crore on Friday and made a bond for the remaining Rs.1 crore to be paid before March 31.

On Thursday Revenue officials attached two machines and sealed the office of the company as part of the revenue recovery proceedings to realise sale tax arrears amounting to Rs.2 crore.

The company's plea to exempt it from sales tax considering it as a medium scale industry for the first five-year period was rejected by the Sales Tax Commissioner.
