The Kerala State Service Pensioners' Association (KSSPA) Idukki district unit has decided to form a help desk which will have retired experts from departments like agriculture, revenue, industry, health and legal services, to help needy members of the public free of cost.

M.K. Joseph, the district president of the KSSPA, said that the desk would be an intermediary to provide services to the people while engaging the pensioners in a productive manner. He said the experience of experts who have retired from various departments was a valuable asset to society and the desk would provide help to the needy. The desk would help the public even on simple matters like getting certificates and benefits from government departments. He said there were delays in getting government services as the general public was not aware of the norms and procedures for obtaining different services from government departments. Mr. Joseph said the desk would also set up model farms in a bid to spread organic farming.
