THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) working chairman Poonthura Siraj has denied having any secret meeting with Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy.

Mr. Siraj told reporters here on Wednesday that the PDP State committee had decided to meet prominent persons and media houses to clear the misgivings they had about the party and its chairman Abdul Nasir Maudany.

He met Mr. Chandy to express his party’s resentment over an article published in a regional newspaper. Mr. Siraj said he met Mr. Chandy in the presence of a huge public gathering and there was nothing secret about it.

He had plans to meet eminent social and cultural activists and political leaders like T. Sivadasa Menon to clarify their stance on issues pertaining to the party and Mr. Maudany.

He said that Mr. Maudany would take out a “Rashtra Suraksha Sandesa Yatra” from Kasaragod on February 1 demanding an end to imperialist hegemony and harassment of the minorities and reservation in proportion to population. The ‘yatra’ will conclude here on February 17.
