Governor R.L. Bhatia to inaugurate programmes

KOZHIKODE: Governor R.L. Bhatia will inaugurate a programme to be held in connection with the 201st death anniversary of Pazhassi Raja at the Tagore Centenary Hall here on November 30.

The programme is being organised by the Pazhassi Raja Anusmarana Samithi and the Pazhassi Raja Charitable Trust, the organisers said at a press conference here on Saturday. The chairpersons of the samithi and trust Peeyush Nambudiri and P.P. Pramod Kumar respectively, among others, were present on the occasion.

The senior-most member of the Pazhassi Raja family, Pazhassi Kerala Varma Valiyaraja, Zamorin P.K.S. Raja, among others, will be present at the inaugural programme.

The Governor will release the Pazhassi commemorative publication by handing over a copy to Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy.

Mr. Bhatia will present awards instituted by the trust in different categories to the former Minister V.M. Sudheeran (political field); Indian Space Research Organisation chairman G. Madhavan Nair (technology); Mammootty (acting), M. Krishnan Nair former director of Regional Cancer Centre, and others on the occasion. A programme will be held at the Pazassi Memorial at Mananthavadi on November 23 in which members of the erstwhile royal families will offer floral tributes to Pazhassi Raja.

Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran will inaugurate a cultural meeting to be held at the Snehanjali auditorium here on November 27.

Contests in poetry for Plus Two students and cultural programmes will be held on the occasion.
