The Payyannur Literary Fest, to be celebrated on the occasion of the 80th birth anniversary of C.P. Sreedharan, literary and cultural critic, will begin at Payyanur on February 17.

The three-day event, to be conducted in three venues, comprises 14 sessions on a variety of topics such as ‘changing phases of stories,’ ‘altering political scenario,’ ‘new streams of women conscience,’ ‘media and commitment’ and ‘essence of Bharat and linguistic literature.’

Minister for Culture K.C. Joseph will inaugurate the festival at the city centre complex.

The first session, ‘C.P. Smrithi,’ will be inaugurated by M.P. Abdussamad Samadani, MLA, on Sunday. A year-long programme planned as part of the birth anniversary of C.P. Sreedharan will be inaugurated by Minister of State for Civil Aviation K.C. Venugopal.

Writers T. Padmanabhan, N.S. Madhavan, Punathil Kunhabdulla, and Balachandran Chullikkad are among those who will attend the festival.

Litterateurs from the neighbouring States will also participate.
