KALPETTA: Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran has said that a Pattaya Mela (title deed distribution function) will be held in Wayanad district on November 21 to solve the problems faced by farmers with regard to land titles.

He was speaking at a function at Niravilpuzha, near Mananthavady, on Tuesday after distributing possession certificates of two acres of land to 12 families who lost their property and houses in a landslip on June 26, 2006 at Valamthode.

Mr. Rajendran sought the full support of the revenue staff to provide title deeds at the mela.

He said the State government would provide Rs.1 lakh to each family, including the Union government aid of Rs.35,000, that lost their houses in rain-related calamities this year.

K.C. Kunhiraman, MLA, presided over the function.

At a function at Mukkamkunnu, near Mepadi, the Minister said the government would implement a special package for the victims of rain-related calamities in the district.

He handed over title deeds of 4.66 acres each to 48 families who lost their property and houses when land split in the Kunnamangalam Vayal area in Mepadi panchayat limits last year.
