Special counter at Passport Seva Kendra

This year’s Haj aspirants will get their passports within a week, said Passport Officer K. Abdul Rasheed here on Thursday. A special counter will be opened at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) here exclusively to deal with the applications of Haj aspirants.

The new counter would benefit people from Palakkad and Malappuram districts. A nodal officer will be appointed to take care of the applications of Haj aspirants. The counter will function from February 18 to March 12.

Haj applicants requiring new passport should register online and approach the PSK with the appointment reference sheet and related documents and a letter from a people’s representative such as an MP, MLA, panchayat president, or the municipal chairperson.

Haj applicants do not have to wait for the appointment date given at the time of online registration. Mr. Rasheed said they should submit a special request to the officer to get their passport within seven days.

He said the police verification of the applicants would be done speedily.

He requested the Haj aspirants to make use of the new facility.
