Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that a decision on the proposed takeover of the Pariyaram and Kochi medical colleges, now under the cooperative sector, will be taken through consultation with all concerned after getting reports from the respective District Collectors who have been directed to assess the assets and liabilities of the medical colleges.

To queries from mediapersons here on Thursday regarding Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala’s reported assurance during his meeting with Communist Marxist Party (CMP) leader M.V. Raghavan that all procedures for the takeover of the Pariyaram medical college would be suspended till further consultation with the CMP leader, Mr. Chandy said he did not know the context in which Mr. Chennithala had made his statement.

The Collectors of Kannur and Ernakulam had been asked to assess the assets of the Kochi and Pariyaram medical colleges respectively. After the government got the reports, decisions would be taken after consulting with all people concerned, he added.
