Minister for Social Justice M.K. Muneer has said that a three-member high-level committee appointed by the State government will conduct an inquiry into the last 10 years’ operations of the nutritious food supply scheme implemented for tribal people in Attappady.
He was talking to presspersons at the launch of a social security scheme of the Muslim Youth League (MYL) here on Sunday. Dr. Muneer said the committee, comprising heads of three government departments, would conduct a comprehensive inquiry and submit its report to the government.
Dr. Muneer said the government was very serious about the reports coming out each day on the tribal people and their lives. “We are very concerned about the issues there and will take all possible action,” he said.
The Minister said the decision on a probe was taken in the backdrop of reports on suspected corruption in the food supply scheme implemented by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).
The audit report of the Agali grama panchayat also mentioned poor implementation of the scheme.
The main allegation was that the ICDS officials colluded with some private players in the sector to disrupt the scheme.
