The A. Gnanam Committee set up by the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) has recommended the early establishment of the Kerala State Assessment and Accreditation Council (KSAAC) to improve the quality of higher education in Kerala.

KSHEC vice-chairman T.P. Sreenivasan handed over the committee report to Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb here on Thursday.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) had mooted the formation of multiple accreditation agencies in the country to supplement the work of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). If established, the KSAAC would be one of the first assessment councils at the State level.

Mr. Sreenivasan also handed over the reports of two other committees set up by the council. The committee headed by Babu Joseph recommended the establishment of a faculty training institute.
