PALAKKAD: The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation has procured 41,057 tonnes of paddy from Palakkad district in the current second crop of paddy harvesting season under the government scheme of procuring paddy from farmers at Rs.11 per kg. More paddy will be procured in the district as the harvest is still going on in the main paddy cultivation areas of Chittur, Corporation officials here said.

They said that a 1 lakh tonnes of paddy were procured in the State and maximum quantity is from Palakkad followed by 37,761 tonnes from Alappuzha; 10,208 tonnes from Thrissur and 10,244 tonnes from Kottayam.
