The Labour Department is organising a painting camp at the Gundert park here on March 20 to create awareness against child labour.

District Labour Officer M. Nandakumar said 25 artists would participate in the camp which would be inaugurated by artist P.S. Karunakaran. Municipal chairperson Amina Maliyekkal would preside over the function. Sub Collector Keshavendra Kumar would be the chief guest on the occasion.

The valedictory ceremony would be inaugurated by Family Court judge T.

Indira. It would be followed by an exhibition of paintings done at the camp.

The programme formed part of the department's campaign against child labour which marred the educational prospects and opportunities of children, Mr. Nandakumar said. As per statistics, 246 million children were engaged in child labour around the world, he added.
