Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary P.K. Krishnadas has alleged that the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) have entered into a political arrangement.

The LDF’s decision to field five independent candidates was intended to benefit the Congress, he added.

He was speaking at an election-related interface programme here on Sunday. By fielding independent candidates, the LDF had improved the chances of winning for K.V. Thomas, P.C. Chacko and Shashi Tharoor, he alleged.

Mr. Krishnadas claimed that the upcoming polls had become a competition between the BJP and the anti-BJP forces.

“While Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was protected by the CPI (M) leadership in the solar panel scam, the favour was returned by the Congress through the handling of the T.P. Chandrashekharan murder case. Moreover, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V.M. Sudheeran, who has been in the forefront of agitations against controversial actions by the government, has been forced to surrender his ideals. The same could be said about V.S. Achuthanandan, who has been a critic of the alleged role of the CPI (M) in the murder of T.P. Chandrashekharan,” he said.
