Owing to remodelling work on the North overbridge as part of the Kochi Metro project, traffic regulations will come into effect from May first week on that bridge.

Only buses will be allowed to use the main overbridge once the flanks are demolished. Two-wheelers and light vehicles like passenger cars will have to use the Kaloor-Kathrikkadavu road, Pulleppady Overbridge, CP Ummer Road and Krishnaswamy Road to reach MG Road.

Vehicles travelling in the northerly direction from the city will use the Chittoor Road from Kacherippady, move along CP Ummer Road, cross Pulleppady overbridge, turn left and proceed to Pallikkavala to move via Kaloor.

Vehicles coming out of the Town Railway Station will use the ESI Hospital Road, Chittoor Road and reach Kacherippady. Vehicles going into the Town Railway Station will turn north from Kacherippady, move via Paramara Road and Specialist Hospital road.

All long-distance KSRTC buses will come via Vyttila and reach MG Road to go to the bus depot. Buses going in the northerly direction will reach the High Court Junction and use the new Vallarpadam-Kalamassery road to reach Kalamassery.

Vehicles coming from Thrissur or Vypeen side of the city can use the new Vallarpadam-Kalamassery road and cross the Goshree bridges to enter the city. Buses going to Kottayam from the northern towns like Thrissur can use the Sea Port-Air Port Road from HMT Junction to reach Irimpanam. Buses coming from Thrissur and going to Alappuzha can use the Vyttila bypass without entering the city. The new traffic arrangements will be tried out to find its efficacy before the construction work begins.
