Kochi: The Kerala High Court, on Thursday, upheld the notification stipulating that all heavy vehicles should be fitted with speed governors.
Dismissing the plea of tanker lorry operators and others that there was discrimination between vehicles registered in the State and outside on the matter, Justice P.R. Raman said that no such distinction had been made. The notification was issued on August 9, 2006.
A Bench, comprising Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan and Justice Antony Dominic, has admitted an appeal filed against a single judge's verdict quashing the Government Order superseding the administrative board of directors of the Pariyaram medical college hospital.
The Bench, while admitting the appeal, declined to stay the single judge's verdict, which came on a writ petition filed by the former Cooperation Minister and chairman of the board, M.V. Raghavan.
Notice on petition
Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan, on Thursday, issued notice to the State Government on a petition seeking to restrain the Government from appointing a judicial commission to inquire into the allegation of sexual harassment levelled against the former Minister for Public Works P.J. Joseph.
The petition was filed by Lakshmi Gopakumar. The former Minister had allegedly misbehaved with the petitioner on board a flight.
