Akshaya launches varsity fee collection through its outlets
Calicut University Vice Chancellor M. Abdul Salam has stated that the university is seriously considering the possibility of distributing students’ mark lists and other course certificates through Akshaya centres for ensuring fast delivery.
He was speaking here on Thursday after launching Akshaya’s new service to collect university fees through its various outlets in the district.
Dr. Salam said a digital signature system would be introduced to distribute the certificates online through various Akshaya centres. Expressing his delight over the new venture of Akshaya to collect university fees, Dr. Salam said it would be a big help for students from the remote areas of the district.
Dr. Salam said the Calicut University’s ongoing drive to digitalise various services would shortly come to a close. “Our aspiration is to deliver various academic services at people’s doorstep through Akshaya services,” he added.
Explaining the new initiative, Akshaya assistant district coordinator C. Raveendran said it was after long years of wait that the service was introduced in Kozhikode district. “So far, the service was active only in Malappuram,” he added.
To remit the fees, the Akshaya centres would make use of its existing e-payment system.
Friends Jana Sevana Kendrams too would team up with the Akshaya outlets to offer the services.
District Planning Officer and Akshaya district coordinator M.A. Ramesh Kumar presided over the inaugural function. Syndicate member K.A. Siraj, Friends Jana Sevana Kendram manager K. Ashraf and Akshaya assistant project coordinator M. Firoz also spoke on the occasion.
