A meeting of District Collector P.B. Salim with the Corporation authorities and the Kothy Bridge Action Committee members has decided to issue one month's deadline for those who refuse to move out from the area planned to be acquired for the approach road of the Kothy bridge.
The meeting has also decided to forcefully evict the residents who refuse to move out even after the deadline.
The absence of an approach road has been making vehicular traffic through the bridge impossible for over 12 years.
According to an official press release here on Thursday, the Kothy Bridge Action Committee would extend all help to ensure the peaceful eviction of the residents from the area.
According to District Collector, the land to be acquired for the approach road had been divided into 11 blocks and ten blocks had been acquired.
A special team from the Revenue Department would be appointed for the acquisition of the remaining 23 cents of land, which is in the possession of 12 residents at Block 9.
P.M.A. Salam, MLA, Mayor A.K. Premajam and councillors, among others, attended the meeting.
