Thiruvananthapuram: An 18-year-old youth was killed and 11 others injured when a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) collided head-on with a KSRTC superfast bus at Korani junction on NH 47 in Attingal police station limits on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Linsay Jose, son of Jose and resident of Kayikkara Puredom, Pallithottam, Kollam. Renid, Akhil and Senthil, who were travelling with Jose, were also injured in the accident.

Six persons who were travelling in the KSRTC bus and two persons Thomas and Pankajakshan who were standing at the bus stop at Korani junction were also injured. The injured were rushed to the Medical College Hospital (MCH).

The accident took place around 1.30 p.m., the police said. The SUV, which belongs to a rent-a-car firm in Kollam, was proceeding from Thiruvananthapuram to Kollam. The KSRTC bus was coming from Attingal to Thiruvananthapuram.

Of the injured, three were admitted and the rest were under observation in the casualty wing of the MCH. The body of Jose was later shifted to the MCH mortuary.
