KOZHIKODE: Ombudsman for Local Self-government Institutions M.R. Hariharan Nair on Wednesday directed the Secretary of the Kozhikode Corporation to inquire into the hazard posed by a displaced slab on a drainage near the district hospital.

The inquiry was ordered on the basis of a vernacular newspaper report which said iron rods jutting out of the slab were a hazard to pedestrians and two-wheelers.

The report also said waste water coming out of the gap created by displaced slab raised an unbearable stink. The Ombudsman directed the Secretary to send an engineer for an on-the-spot assessment and get the slab restored.
