Kochi: The Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Thrikkakara, is conducting Scienergy-08, a one-day interaction programme for senior secondary school students, on November 8 as part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) golden jubilee celebrations. Intended to attract young talents in the country to take up careers in science and technology and serve the nation for improving the quality of life, it will acquaint students in and around Ernakulam with advancements in science and technology in the country besides briefing them on opportunities in the field. The programme also provides students a rare platform to interact with DRDO scientists on a range of topics.

The programmes, staring at 9 a.m. on November 8 include ‘Samvada’, a panel discussion with scientists; Sci-Fundaz’, an interactive audiovisual programme based on fundamental facts of science — aimed at coaxing students to beyond textbooks — and ‘Samasya’, a quiz competition pertaining to science and technology.

Eight teams selected from the preliminary round will fight it out in the finals for exciting prizes.
