KOZHIKODE: A dozen persons who have never taken a puff in their life gathered together on Gandhi Jayanti day here to form the Non-Smokers’ Awareness Group. Organised under the Kerala State Consumer Protection Front, these people have been at the receiving end for objecting to smoking in public places.

The group was formed on the day when the Centre imposed a ban on smoking in public places under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003, which had provision to impose a fine of up to Rs.200. Those interested in joining may call ph: 9895 643365.
