A workshop held on Thursday to formulate projects for the annual plan under the Aarogya Keralam Scheme for the year 2013-14 envisages projects worth Rs.50 crore. This includes commencement of 34 new family welfare sub centres and modernisation of existing 44 ones.

The major projects include the construction of a new 150 bed IP block at Kanjirappally Taluk Hospital at a cost of Rs.5 crore and construction of IP block and modernization of the casualty block at Changanassery taluk hospital at a cost of Rs. 4 crore

The plan has earmarked Rs. 3 crore each for the development of the Primary Health Centre at Thidanad and Community Health Centre at Kaduthuruthy and Rs. 1 crore for construction of a OP Block for the Mundankunnu Primary Health Centre.

The plan provides Rs. 2 crore for construction of OP casualty block at Pampady Taluk Hospital and Rs. 25 lakh for a new CT scan facility at the district hospital. This year’s plan which focuses on enhancement of laboratory facilities and gynaecology facilities through infrastructure development efforts, has provided Rs.1.33 crore for the purpose spread over 15 health department institutions.

The 330 family welfare sub-centres will be provided with the service of a junior public health nurse.
