The CPI(M) district committee on Saturday convened a press conference in the light of reports that appeared in a leading Malayalam daily, quoting intelligence reports, attributing involvement of the party’s Kozhikode district committee in the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan last year.

The report was aimed at tarnishing the image of the CPI(M), party State committee member Elamaram Karim said on Saturday. The daily ought to explain from where it sourced the reports, while Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan should clarify his stand on the reports filed by the daily, Mr. Karim said.

Mr. Karim, along with CPI(M) Kozhikode district unit secretary T.P. Ramakrishanan, made it clear that the party, in fact, wanted a fair probe into the murder and would like to see that the actual culprits were booked.
