KOCHI: RSP(B) State general Secretary A.V. Thamarakshan has said that there is no possibility for the formation of a third front in Kerala.

Political parties would have to align with either of the fronts in the State, he said at a press conference here on Wednesday. “We can’t do anything without being part of a front,” he said.

Prof. Thamarakshan said the LDF government was a thorough failure. Asked whether his party would like to align with the UDF, he made it clear that the party would consider the option and hastened to add that no talks in that direction had been initiated.

The State government machinery had a severe shortage of staff in the lower cadres while there was an excess at the top layers, he said. He also charged the government with failure to collect taxes from wealthy classes as well as gold traders.

Prof. Thamarakshan said raking up of the nuclear issue was a ploy of the CPI(M) to distance itself from the Congress-led UPA government, ahead of the general elections. He alleged that the display of currency notes was a drama enacted with the intention of disrupting the proceedings of the confidence motion.
