PALAKKAD: Kerala Electricity Minister A.K. Balan has said that there was no need for him to resign from the Cabinet since Monday's order of the Ottappalam First Class Judicial Magistrate convicting him was stayed by the Sessions Court of Palakkad on Tuesday.

Talking to mediapersons after getting bail from the Ottappalam court on Wednesday, the Minister said Tuesday's resolution passed by the Assembly did not contain any reference against the court.

The court order was an encroachment upon the privileges of MLAs who were attending a session of the Assembly summoned by the Governor.
