Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that his organisation has no issue with the Congress.

“The showdown is with Alappuzha DCC [District Congress Committee] president A.A. Shukoor and not with the Congress,” he told mediapersons on his arrival here on Friday to attend a function.

Mr. Natesan alleged that Mr. Shukoor had been after him for the past 16 years. “But all his calculations continue to get frustrated.”

Congress stance

Mr. Shukoor’s statements against him are his own and not that of the Congress. The Congress stance should come either from Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala or Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Asked about the Nair Service Society (NSS) severing its ties with the Congress, Mr. Natesan said the NSS must be having reasons for that. The SNDP has no such issue with the Congress.

Also, the SNDP need not follow the NSS stance always. But the two organisations will continue to work together on all likeminded issues and no one will succeed in breaking the unity.

League’s claim

Mr. Natesan said that the Indian Union Muslim League had the eligibility to get the Deputy Chief Minister’s post. It had held the post even earlier.

“The prospects of KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala will have to be decided by the United Democratic Front,” Mr. Natesan said adding that he is no soothsayer to decide the fate of Mr. Chennithala

Asked about the stand of the SNDP Yogam in the coming Lok Sabha election, Mr. Natesan said let the time come.

He, at the same time, said “some major developments can be expected in the Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituency.”
