Employees and officers of the North Malabar Gramin Bank (NMGB) will strike work under the aegis of the Joint Forum of NMGB Unions on November 23.

The forum has submitted a charter of demands which include filling of vacancies in all branches, rectification of anomalies in core banking and thereby ensuring better service to consumers, proper disbursement of benefits to retired employees, revision of wages to sweepers, and a hike in conveyance allowance among others.

At a press conference here on Friday, members of various unions, which formed the forum, said the strike had been planned following the apathetic approach of the management despite repeated pleas.

If the demands remain unmet even after the strike, an indefinite satyagraha will commence on December 4 and a 48-hour strike in January, they said.
