Students exhorted to work hard for a better tomorrow

Kozhikode: Onam celebrations began at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) campus on Wednesday with students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering celebrating the festival with enthusiasm.

G.R.C. Reddy, director of NIT-C, lighted the lamp in front of a floral carpet to mark the beginning of the celebrations.

He called upon the student community to imbibe the spirit of Onam and to work hard for a better tomorrow. Head of the Department M.P. Sebastian presided.

‘Pal Payasam’ was distributed during the occasion.

Cultural events

In the evening, a number of competitions were held with students belonging to other States too participating. Musical chair, ‘Uriyadi’ and tug-of-war were some of the attractions.

Third year B.Tech students came first in the ‘tug-of-war’ competition.

Students from North India said that it was a unique experience for them.
