MALAPPURAM: Calicut University will have a new façade with the setting up of a multi-storeyed building near the institution’s main gate. The building, designed by the architects of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kozhikode, will house facilities like communication centre, information centre, finishing school, placement cell, student dean’s office, and the university public relations office.
Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will lay the foundations of the building on Saturday. Vice-Chancellor Anwar Jahan Zuberi will preside. University authorities said the building would cost Rs.3 crore. The State government has given Rs.2 crore for the building.
The university has designed the building in such a way as to make it a one-stop point for the students who visit the institution for various purposes. The building will be set up in front of the university main gate next to the Chair for Islamic Studies and the Department of Commerce and Management Studies.
