The Department of Social Welfare is redesigning the uniform or dress code of anganwadi workers. All anganwadi workers will be given two sets of overcoats, aprons and caps by the department. Their basic uniform will be either sari or salwar suits. The State has 33,107 anganwadi workers and as many helpers. The government has issued administrative sanction for utilising Rs. 3.97 crore for the new uniform. The tailoring charges should be borne by the respective local bodies. Uniform material should be bought from Hantex, an official release said. — Special Correspondent
