Seven-storey building at Thavakkara built at a cost of Rs.4 crore

K. Sudhakaran, MP, inaugurated a building constructed on the Kannur University’s Thavakkara campus to house the Academic Staff College here on Wednesday.

This was the first of the structures being built on the Thavakkara campus here. The buildings for the administrative block and the university central library were nearing completion, Vice-Chancellor M.K. Abdul Khader said.

The Academic Staff College building was constructed using Rs.4 crore which included the Rs.1.5 crore provided by the University Grants Commission. The seven-storey building would also house a guesthouse to accommodate 70 people.

The facilities could also be used for training for non-teaching staff in e-governance, Dr. Khader said.

District panchayat president K.M. Sarala, municipal Chairperson Roshni Khalid, vice-chariman T.O. Mohanan, and university Registrar Balachandran Keezhoth were among those present.
