NCC team felicitated

Cadets of the National Cadet Corps from the Kollam Group who had registered outstanding performance at this year's Republic Day camp at Delhi were honoured at a function held at the NCC Group headquarters here on Thursday. Group Commanding Officer Colonel B.S. Gokula presented cash awards also to the cadets.

Col. Gokula said that cadets from the Kollam Group were part of the NCC Kerala Directorate contingent. In overall performance for various competitions held at the camp, the Kerala contingent had registered the sixth position among the contingents from seventeen NCC Directorates from across the country that had participated.

The team of girl cadets from Kerala had won the first place in the group dance event and from them four were from the Kollam Group. Four cadets from the group had participated in the Republic Day parade at Rajpath. The Kerala Directorate had registered the third position for the cultural events and drill. These events too had cadets from the Kollam group.

In the national integration awareness presentation, the Kerala contingent came fourth and for the event too there were cadets from the Kollam group.

Col. Gokula said the parents of the cadets were also invited for Thursday's function. He said that he was happy to announce that two cadets from the Kollam Group had been selected as commissioned officers in the defence service and they were already in the Defence Academy.

Col. C.B. Bhaskar and Lt. Col. M.C. Raveendra Babu were also present.
