A Nangiarkoothu production, ‘Parvati Viraham', enacted by Kapila Venu, was premiered at the 34th National Convention of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music Among Youth (Spicmacay) at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack on Friday.

The play, produced by the Irinjalajuda-based Natanakairali, was introduced by critic Leela Venkataraman. Rudra Veena exponent Ustad Bahauddin Dagar felicitated the artistes, according to a press release here on Saturday.

‘Parvati Viraham' portrays a dialogue between Lord Shiva and Parvati that ends up as a love quarrel. It provides ample scope for abhinaya.

The episode is based on a single shloka, ‘Mauloukinnu mahesa', composed centuries ago. Ms. Venu was accompanied by Kalamandalam Rajeev, Kalamandalam Hariharan, Kalanilayam Unnikrishnan.
