Congress leader T.H. Mustafa has blamed Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala for the controversies over the fifth Cabinet berth for the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Cabinet reshuffle.

At a news conference here on Monday, Mr. Mustafa alleged that the two leaders had teamed up to allot an additional Cabinet berth for the IUML. But, Mr. Chennithala had turned against Mr. Chandy when his favourites were ignored while reshuffling the Cabinet.

Mr. Mustafa alleged that certain Congress leaders were kicking up controversies on purpose.

These controversies had hurt the reputation of the party.

Senior leaders had misled the party High Command regarding IUML's minister and the reshuffle. In his view, the fifth Cabinet berth was unnecessary.
