KOCHI: Hridayathalam, a musical evening, planned as a fund-raiser for supporting 70 heart patients on the occasion of the 70 {+t} {+h} birth year of singer K. J. Yesudas will be organised here on Saturday. The four-and-a-half hour programme will feature leading actors and dance shows.

So far 180 applications have been received and 70 surgeries have been confirmed, said Benny Joseph, convener of the programme.

Discussions are also on with various hospitals to ensure that the patients get continued medical support, even after the surgery.

“We have also decided that recommendations of patients from outside the State would also be considered,” K.J. Yesudas said at the press meet held at Le Meridien, the venue of the programme.

“Given the response, we are planning to form an advisory board to make this an ongoing programme. We have requested support of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in this,” Mr. Yesudas said.

The programme will have rendering of seven new compositions written by seven renowned poet-composer combinations, like ONV-Dakshinamoorthy, Sreekumaran Thampi-M.S. Viswanathan, Yusufali Kecheri-M.K. Arjunan, R.K. Damodaran-Vidyadharan, Kaithapram-Johnson, Bichu Thirumala-Jerry Amal Dev and Saratchandra Varma-Ousappachan. Cricketer S. Sreesanth was also present at the press meet.
