: The 27{+t}{+h}Swathi Tirunal Music Festival of the Swathi Music Dais will be held from November 22 to 24 at the Tali Guruvayurappan Hall at Zamorin’s Higher Secondary School.

T.M. Sarvothaman Nedungadi, president, Swathi Music Dais, and N. Babu Swamy, secretary, announced here on Tuesday that this year’s festival would pay tribute to music director Dakshinamoorthy.

The three-day musical festival will begin with a concert by Mavelikara P Subramaniam on November 22. He will be accompanied by R Swaminathan on violin and P.V. Anil Kumar on mridangam. A vocal concert by Guruvayur T.V. Manikandan will be held on the second day with Trichur C. Rajendran on violin and P.V. Anil Kumar on mridangam.

The music festival will conclude with a flute recital by Mysore Chandan Kumar , grandson of violin maestro Sangeetha Kalanidhi Mysore T. Chowdiah. The flautist will be accompanied by Avaneeswaram S.R. Vinu on violin , Mysore N. Sudarsan on mridangam and Uduppi S. Srikanth on ganchira.

Competitions will also be held as part of the music festival. The contest for seniors in the age group 16 to 25 in rendering compositions of Swathi Tirunal will be held in the morning on the concluding day of the festival.

The competitions in vocal and instrumental music for juniors will be held at Zamorin’s Higher Secondary School from 10 a.m. on November 17. Those who wish to participate in the contest should report at the venue at 10 a.m., Mr Babu Swamy, said.
