: M.B. Rajesh, MP, has called a convention of people from all walks of life, irrespective of political affiliations, about the future of the railway coach factory at Kanjikode here, at Moyan L.P. School on Friday at 4.30 p.m. The State government had already handed over 431 acres of land to the Indian Railways for the proposed factory.

He said though the State government had handed over the land last year itself, the Railways had not yet decided to start construction there. “This may be an attempt to deny the district the coach factory, for which it has been waiting for more than three decades,” he said.

So the convention was organised to urge the Railways and the Central government to immediately start work on the factory, Mr. Rajesh said.
