The decrepit condition of the building housing the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) dispensary here has become a matter of grave concern for its office staff and those dependent on it for medical care.

Despite demands for its immediate repair, the authorities concerned have not woken up to reality.

M.K. Raghavan, MP, said on Tuesday that he had taken up the matter with Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge and had urged him to take immediate steps for the renovation and proper maintenance of the building. “When the monsoon gets stronger, the office and the dispensary will have to be shifted from this building ,” he said. The MP has also written to the Director General of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation about the urgent need to renovate the building.
