As part of further investigation into the death of C.M. Abdulla Moulavi, former Samastha Sunni State unit vice-president and Khasi of Chembarika and Mangalore, a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited the Chembarika beach where the Khasi's body was found under mysterious circumstances.

The visit of the CBI team comes at a time when there is widespread propaganda that the agency had wound up the probe without being able to make any breakthrough in the death of the religious scholar last year.

Supporters of the Khasi were in dismay after the CBI, which had earlier carried out a detailed probe, did not make any breakthrough in the investigation as a section of people had come out with intensified protests seeking fresh probe into the death.

The CBI officers, however, declined to divulge any information regarding the progress of the ongoing investigation, sources said.

The visit of the CBI team had kindled hopes of the supporters of the religious leader. The case was first handed over to the local police and later to State Crime Branch. But due to intense protest, the State government handed over the investigation to the CBI.
