‘It will be beneficial to all stakeholders'

The Rubber Training Institute (RTI) under the Rubber Board and the Kolkata-based Indian Rubber Institute(IRI) have signed a memorandum of understanding for conducting collaborative training programmes in rubber manufacturing technology.

The agreement was signed by R. Mukhopadhyay, chairman, IRI, and Kuruvilla Jacob, director, RTI, in the presence of Rubber Board chairman Sajen Peter here recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Peter said the collaborative effort will be beneficial to all stakeholders in the rubber sector.

The fast-paced growth of the rubber-based industry in the country suffers from an acute shortage of trained manpower, especially in the small scale sector.

With the consuming countries tightening the quality specifications, the manufacturers of new products need highly-skilled manpower, he said. The collaborative effort would go a long way in addressing the technological challenges posed by the emerging trends in rubber manufacturing industry, he said.
