More trains would stop at railway stations in the city suburbs in the coming months, P. Rajeev, MP, said.

He met Union Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi on Friday and requested him to sanction stops to select trains at these stations. “Based on this, he agreed to grant a stop at Tripunithura for the Vanchinad Express and Parasuram Express.”

This would help commuters from Tripunithura, Kakkanad and Aluva. Mr. Rajeev also demanded a stop at Tripunithura for the Island Express and a stop at Aluva for the Eranad Express. A stop has been sought for the Ernakulam-Guruvayur passenger train at Kalamassery.

Mr. Trivedi promised to discuss before the Railway budget the revival of the now unused Old Railway Station located behind the High Court of Kerala and also the Harbour Terminus Railway Station, Mr. Rajeev said.
