The government has taken a policy decision to open a ‘model toddy shop' in each of the 14 districts in the State, Excise Minister K. Babu has said. Responding to a submission from Kaipamangalam MLA V.S. Sunil Kumar in the Assembly on Thursday, he said the government's policy was to encourage toddy and discourage the sale and drinking of hard liquor. The Kerala State Beverages Corporation would manage the model toddy shops that would be opened next year, he said. — Staff Reporter
