The 11-day-long Swaralaya Music and Dance Festival will be inaugurated by M.K. Muneer, Minister of Panchayats and Social Welfare, at Indoor Stadium here on October 1 at 6 p.m.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Swaralaya president N.N. Krishnadas and secretary T.R. Ajayan said the inaugural function would be followed by Kuchipudi dance recital by Manju Warrier.

This would be followed by a Ghazal concert by Umbayee and Mohiniyattam recital by Vineetha Nedungadi on October 2. On October 3, there would be a Carnatic music concert by Dr. K. Omanakutty, and on October 4 by Neyveli Santhanagopalam. On October 5, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy would present a Bharathanatyam recital, and October 6, Sobhana would stage her Krishna Ballet.

On October 7, there would be a dance recital by Lavanya Anandha and Bharathanatyam by Rama Vaidynathan. On October 8, Alarmel Valli would stage a Bharathanatyam recital, and on October 9, music lovers would get to taste a sitar concert by Partha Pratim Roy. A Sufi Kathaka recital by Rani Khanam would follow.

Priyadarsini Govind would stage a Bharatanatyam recital on October 10. Mr. Krishnadas said the valedictory function would be inaugurated by Governor of Maharashtra K. Sankaranarayanan on October 11 at 6 p.m.

This would be followed by a Ganemela named ‘Ormakal’, he said.
