Rural Development Minister K.C. Joseph has said the government will give all necessary support to local bodies for implementing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to create assets.

Laying the foundation stone for the Rajiv Seva Kendram and inaugurating the declaration of the Haritha Samruddhi scheme at Naduvil panchayat here on Monday, the Minister said the job scheme being implemented in the panchayat would be the first model in the State of the programme’s execution for asset creation.

The Minister said that the practice of local self-governments expending Plan funds at the fag end of the financial year was going to end in the State.
